From September 30 to October 27, 2024, His Eminence Metropolitan Job of Pisidia is in Rome where he represents His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Synod of the bishops of the Roman Catholic Church as an observer (“Fraternal Delegate”). This Synod examines the current issues with which Christianity is being confronted and reflects how to strengthen synodality within the Roman Catholic Church in order to make her more effective in the mission.
In addition to Metropolitan Job, are participating as well three other Orthodox observers (from the Patriarchates of Alexandria, Serbia and Romania), four observers from the Ancient Oriental Churches, and eight observers from the Churches of the Protestant Reformation.
During the work of the Synod, Metropolitan Job transmitted the greetings from His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and, in his quality of co-president of the Joint International Commission for the theological dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, underlined the importance of the work of this Commission on the theme of synodality and primacy both for the rapprochement between these two Churches and for the strengthening of the spirit of synodality in each one of them.
