On 5-7 November 2024, His Eminence Metropolitan Job of Pisidia participated in the international theological conference in memory of the late Metropolitan of Pergamon John Zizioulas entitled: “Theological Legacy and Ecumenical Vision”, which took place in Istanbul. The conference was inaugurated by the keynote address of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the theological legacy of Metropolitan John Zizioulas.
As the successor of the late Metropolitan as co-president of the Joint International Commission for the Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Job spoke about the contribution of Metropolitan John Zizioulas to the bilateral dialogue between the Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Churches.
Metropolitan John Zizioulas (1931-2023) was one of the most influential Orthodox theologians of the 20th and 21st centuries. He was a disciple of the Orthodox theologian Father Georges Florovsky (1893-1979) and a close friend of Saint Sophrony Sakharov (1896-1993). He was a member of the Academy of Athens.
