On Sunday 8 September 2024, the Holy Metropolis of Pisidia celebrated the feast of the Wonderworking and Myrrh-streaming Icon of the Mother of God of Pisidia in the church dedicated to her in Alanya. The liturgical celebrations were presided by the local archpastor, His Eminence Metropolitan Job of Pisidia, in concelebration with his auxiliary bishop, His Grace Bishop Amvrosios of Eudokiada, with the participation of the patriarchal deacon Epiphanios Kamianovych and of the clergy and faithful from the parishes of Alanya, Side and Antalya.
In his homily, the metropolitan referred to miracles performed by this ancient Byzantine icon that was venerated in the church of the Most Holy in Sozopolis of Pisidia and that healed Theodore of Sykeon as well as granted children to a couple through the intervention of Saint Eutychios of Constantinople. He also highlighted that after the 8th century the trace of this ancient Byzantine miraculous icon was lost, but thanks to a copy preserved in Russia, which belonged to the mother of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich Romanov, the late Metropolitan Sotirios Trampas of blessed memory was able to commission a copy in 2014 and subsequently built this beautiful church of Alanya in her honor.
